About TPAG
Three decades of volunteer action for South Australia's threatened flora.
History
TPAG was founded in 1993 by a group of South Australians who recognised the need for greater on-ground action to ensure these species continue to survive in their wild habitats.
Our volunteers have worked on some of the rarest and most endangered plant species in South Australia over several decades. Many are not commonly known by the general public: Leafy Greenhood, Large-flower Groundsel, Jumping-jack Wattle and Spalding Blown-grass, to name a few.
Recovery projects have been carried out across the state, including Adelaide, the Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula, the Flinders Ranges and the Outback, in collaboration with National Parks, local councils, landowners and other volunteer and community groups.

Our approach
Collaborative, science-based assessment, monitoring and recovery
Many native plant species in South Australia face some degree of threat of extinction in the foreseeable future. They grow in a wide variety of habitats across urban, regional and remote areas.
TPAG works to arrest this decline through on-ground recovery in each plant’s natural habitat. We survey important populations and monitor them over time to learn whether numbers are rising or falling, and what weed, grazing and disturbance damage is occurring.
Our on-ground action is primarily weed control. We may also work to reduce grazing damage by animals and minimise disturbance from human activity.
Advocacy
TPAG gives our threatened flora a voice. We make submissions on conservation and park planning, proposed legislative and policy changes, and developments in or affecting threatened flora habitats.

Meet our committee
TPAG is run entirely by volunteers, and our work depends solely on project funding.
